July 3-9

Hey y'all!
It's been a pretty good week! We've been busy!
This week we are moving apartments, in the same complex but a new
apartment. It's been crazy trying to pack everything up! Here's my
updated mailing address:

4315 Lexington Rd. Apt. 12F
Athens, GA
30605

We've had a lot going on! We had a meet the new mission president
meeting which was fun, President and Sister Marsh are great! He's got
some great plans for the mission, I'm sad I won't get to stick around
for much longer. We also had interviews and MLC so lots of meetings.
The 4th of July was pretty good, we didn't get to do anything too
exciting. We were hoping there was a parade or something fun we could
go contact people at, but apparently there was nothing in Athens. We
went on a little exchange with the UGA Sisters and tracted for most of
the day. We got to talk to lots of people, but nobody was to eager or
excited to talk to us.

Also I think I've mentioned a little about Cheryl, she's a lady we've
been working a lot with, and she's getting baptized!!!! She left the
church about 30 years ago (like removed her name from the records and
everything) but recent life events have led her back to the church!
We've taught her a lot and she's made so much progress, and this week
she met with her bishop and he gave her permission to be re-baptized!
I am so excited and happy for her! I almost cried when she told us she
committed to be baptized again!! She's the best.

We had a cool experience last night while we were tracting! We were
waiting on a doorstep and I pulled at my iPad to look something up but
then they opened the door and I awkwardly had my iPad in my hand, so I
asked if we could share a video with them! He said yes, and left for a
minute to pull his dogs away and brought out his girlfriend. They
didn't seem super enthusiastic to watch the video but we shared the
"Because of Him" video and by the end Brooke was crying! She told us
about some trials she was going through and how she just wanted to
have God more in her life! It was so cool how the video softened their
hearts and they accepted a Book of Mormon and said we could come back!

D&C 6:36 "Look unto me in every thought; doubt not, fear not."

Love y'all!

For the 4th of July we found a ton of glow sticks in our
apartment so we taped a bunch of cards to them to hand out!

Someone gave us a huge watermelon! It was so good!

We get thunderstorms almost nightly now. It's always an adventure!

June 26-July 2

Hey y'all!
It's been a pretty great week! Being in a trio is awesome! Haha the
only thing stranger than 2 girls riding bikes in skirts (and in the
thunderstorm) is 3 girls! Our new companion is Sister Johnson, she's
from Idaho. It's been fun, we've had lots of adventures! Lots of
tracting and teaching and everything! We helped harvest potatoes at
the UGA horticulture farms, so that was fun! It's also been pretty
rainy, like every day. Saturday night we got caught biking in a huge
thunderstorm. The thunder was so loud and the lightning was striking
and the sidewalk turned into a river. You could see the dark clouds
rolling in with the wall of rain. We got so soaked, but luckily we
were able to stop at a member's house for a little while until the
storm passed through.

Our investigator Deitra is doing awesome! On Monday when we saw her
she told us that she's been praying really hard, especially on how to
help her family. She said one morning instead of getting up and
yelling at all the kids to get up and do chores, she just came
downstairs and read from the Book of Mormon, and as she was reading
she received some inspiration on how to better help her family and
better approach her situation! She's been progressing a lot! She's
still on date for baptism on July 29th!

1 Nephi 7:12 "Yea, and how is it that ye have forgotten that the Lord
is able to do all things according to his will, for the children
of men, if it so be that they exercise faith in him? Wherefore,
let us be faithful to him."

Love y'all! Happy 4th of July!

Now I have 2 companions!!

Hey y'all!
We got an exciting transfer call this week! I'm staying in Athens,
this will be my 5th transfer. I'm also staying with Sister Hansen,
which will be our 4th transfer together, and we're getting a 3rd
companion! We will be training a brand new missionary, so we don't
know her name yet. It will be an exciting transfer! We also get a new
mission president this week. This will be my last transfer it will be
the best one yet! Lots of great things are happening.

Our investigator Deitra is doing well, she accepted a baptism date for
the end of July! We are so excited for her and her family! She's been
reading and coming to church and making changes in her life, sometimes
without us inviting her to! She is so prepared for the gospel,
sometimes she'll do or say something that will make us wonder if she's
already a member!

There's also this other lady we've been working a lot with to come
back to the church. She had her records removed over 30 years ago but
is being led back to the church! We have had a lot of really great
lessons with her! Haha we even biked all the way to her apartment on
Friday since we had no car and no ride...it was 6.5 miles one way and
pretty intense hills. But we made it! Haha and she wasn't very happy
to find out we biked...but we had a good lesson!

We also have another investigator, Ruby, who is doing really well! We
finally got ahold of a large print Book of Mormon for her, and started
reading it with her. She told us her pastor told her not to talk to
us, but she didn't understand because we were so nice! And then as we
were reading through the introduction and the first chapter she told
us "Maybe I need to share this with my pastor, because this is the
truth!" The Book of Mormon has a lot of power!

On Thursday, long story short, I ended up in a trio for the day with
Sister Thorn and Lang on UGA! Both of them are former companions so it
was really fun! We contacted on campus, they have all the new student
orientation going on for the fall, so lots of people to talk to!

We had a cool experience Sunday night. When we were planning for the
day we had a couple streets we had chosen to tract, and there was one
street that I really felt like we needed to be on 8-9. Logically it
made sense to go there earlier in the day but for some reason I really
felt we needed to be there later. So from 8-9 we pulled into the
parking lot of the complex and started walking to the building we
wanted to start knocking and we passed a man taking out his trash. We
said hello and he got really excited! He didn't speak much English but
from what we gathered he was a member of the church and he got
baptized in Peru! He invited us over to his apartment and we met his
mom and wife. We had a pretty difficult time understanding him since
we don't know Spanish, but he was trying to ask us where the church
was, because he hasn't found it since he moved here to Georgia! So we
called the Spanish elders and got all his information! It was so cool
how we were led to be at that street and just the right time to meet
Pedro so he could find the church again.

Alma 34:14-15
"And behold, this is the whole meaning of the law, every whit pointing
to that great and last sacrifice; and that great and last sacrifice
will be the Son of God, yea, infinite and eternal.
And thus he shall bring salvation to all those who shall believe on
his name; this being the intent of this last sacrifice, to bring about
the bowels of mercy, which overpowereth justice, and bringeth about
means unto men that they may have faith unto repentance."

Love y'all!
Sister Taylor
Our trio for the day on UGA!

You can't really tell but we got so drenched biking home Saturday

night! We biked several miles in the pouring rain and it didn't
lighten up. It was an adventure!

June 13-19

Hey y'all!
It's been a pretty good week! Nothing too out of the ordinary
happened, just lots of finding and teaching and missionary work! We've
had a goal, as a mission, to get 70 contacts and 10 lessons in a week
and we were able to hit that, so we were really excited!

Deitra and her family are doing good! Her surgery went well, she
received a priesthood blessing beforehand, some members brought them
dinner and her daughter went to girls camp! It's been a little harder
getting in with them because she's recovering from her surgery, and
she will have a couple more in the upcoming weeks. But we call and
text her every day to keep the daily contact, and hoping our next
appointment that she's actually feeling up for a lesson we will be
able to put them on date!
Our investigator Brittney is also doing well, she was able to attend a
baptismal service in the Athens 2nd Ward this week! We didn't go, but
from what she told us it was a really good experience! We're hoping
this will help her receive her answer and want to be baptized, which
is what she's been stuck on.

This week as I was studying for some investigators and I came across an article
"It isn't a sin to be weak". I had read it before, but this week it
really stuck with me. It helped me see the difference between sin and
weakness. Being a missionary can be discouraging sometimes, just
because there is so much I can do to be better yet so little time to
do so, and I can get frustrated with myself for not being able to
contact everyone in just the right way or not teach all the principles
perfectly. But God has given us weaknesses as a part of mortality,
like it says in Ether 12:27, so we can be humble. God doesn't expect
us to be perfect, but he does expect us to strive to be better. And we
can't overcome our weaknesses on our own, but we can't expect God to
just take them from us either. It's through the grace of Jesus Christ
we canovercome them. It takes a lot of time and patience and humility,
because we can't change overnight. That's a big thing I've learned on
my mission, to be more humble and patient with myself in overcoming
weaknesses, but still doing my part and being anxiously engaged in
striving to do better.

Love y'all, have a fantastic week!

June 6-12

Hey y'all!
It's been a great week! We've been busy, lots of teaching and finding!
We also had a really good zone conference this week!
Deitra and her family are doing really well, the ward has been getting
really involved with them and excited about them! She has 2 kids who
are youth and Bishop is really excited because his kids are like the
only youth in the ward, and he told us they've been praying for more
youth to come in! Deitra's kids are loving all the youth activities
and they're both going to the youth camp outs this summer as well!
We're super excited for them! Haha now all we really need to do is
actually put them on date for baptism.

Lately, with the people we've been teaching, I've been able to see
just how involved God is in their lives, and how much He loves them.
It's been really cool to see, and I realized that if He loves them
that much, then He loves me that much too.

Romans 8:28 "And we know that all things work together for good to
them that love God, to them who are the called according to his
purpose."

Love y'all! Have a great week!

may 24-30

Hey y'all!
It's been a pretty great week! We've knocked on a lot of doors. Things
are slowing down a bit, I think it's just because it's summer in a
college town so a lot of people leave. But there's still lots of work
to do! Since yesterday was Memorial Day our preparation day was moved,
and we went on a little exchange with the UGA Sisters, they both came
to our area and we split up and knocked on a lot of doors, we got to
talk to lots of people that were home for the holiday! I was with
Sister Thorn, it was fun to go on exchanges with her since we were
companions for a while back in the fall! We also had a lot of random
people give us food too, so that was cool! One of our investigators
randomly made us food to go and one of our recent converts also
spontaneously invited us to dinner! And on Friday we were biking down
the road and a member sees us and pulls over, and invites us to come
to lunch with them!

Connie and her family are good! We've been able to see them several
times a week. One challenge with them is her children, Lincoln and
Jennifer, are progressing much faster than Connie is. It's been a
struggle for them to keep commitments, but we're doing all we can to
help them see the importance and provide the means for them to be able
to keep the commitments. Jennifer and Lincoln both really want to be
baptized, but Connie still isn't sure. Hopefully as her kids work
towards that she will be able to have that desire for herself as well.

We had a cool experience with a lady we're working with! Last week
week I had led out the lesson and after we were done she turned to
Sister Hansen and told her she's really quiet, so next time she had to
lead out the lesson. The morning of Sister Hansen was pretty nervous,
she kept telling me she had no idea what to share but I couldn't
really help, it was her lesson and the lady we're teaching would know
if I had told her what to share. She felt prompted to share "The
Living Christ", but had no idea why or how that would help her. I
encouraged her to go with the prompting and she did. While we were in
the lesson, right before we were about to read through it together, I
mentioned that Sister Hansen had it memorized, and she got really
excited and asked to hear it memorized. It was exactly what she needed
to hear that day, not necessarily the document "The Living Christ",
but the fact that Sister Hansen had it memorized from the heart really
impressed her. The spirit knows what she needs, even if we don't. We
just have to trust the spirit's promptings even if it doesn't make
sense!

"True disciples of Jesus Christ are willing to stand out, speak up,
and be different from the people of the world. They are undaunted,
devoted, and courageous." -President Nelson

Love y'all, have a great week!

Today for preparation day we went to

May 15-23

Hey y'all!
It's been a pretty good week! It's just been really busy but lots of
finding at the same time. I feel like there's always a million things
to do and I can never keep track of it all! But it all somehow works
out! This week was like a repeat of last week, I got another flat bike
tire and it poured a ton of rain! Except all in the same night. We
walked out the door after dinner and we realized somehow my bike tire
had gone flat in the last hour...we tried to fix it but it was because
apparently we had fixed it wrong last week when it went flat so I just
needed a new tube. And then the sky poured out all the rain. We
decided to walk over to Walmart since it was so close and contact
people there.
Our investigators Kim and Barry are doing well! They're always happy
to meet with us and enjoyed church, but they have yet to read on their
own. We always talk about the importance of reading but it just
doesn't seem to be a priority. So this week we just read from the Book
of Mormon with them, and at the end Kim said the closing prayed and
asked if the Book of Mormon is true! It was so cool! Now the trick is
helping them connect that desire to actually reading and praying.
Sometimes the Spanish elders will find someone and refer them to us
with a specific appointment, this week they gave us a referral with an
appointment this Saturday morning and it was pretty far and we didn't
have the car so we had to find a member ride. Unfortunately we were
not able to get ahold of the referral before hand and she wasn't there
when we showed up. We had a couple other investigators in the area so
we picked our investigator, Ruby, to go see with our team up since we
had driven all the way out there. She was the perfect member to go
visit Ruby with, just looking at both of them you wouldn't think
they'd connect well together but it turns out that our team up had
gone through a lot of the things Ruby is going through, and she was
able to share some scriptures and experiences that really helped Ruby!
It's always cool to see how things all work out even though they don't
work the way we plan it to!

"The Final Judgment is not just an evaluation of a sum total of good
and evil acts--what we have done. It is an acknowledgment of the final
effect of our acts and thoughts--what we have become. It is not enough
for anyone just to go through the motions. The commandments,
ordinances, and covenants of the gospel are not a list of deposits
required to be made in some heavenly account. The gospel of Jesus
Christ is a plan that shows us how to become what our Heavenly Father
desires us to become." -Elder Oaks ("The Challenge to Become")

Love y'all!
